Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 25, 1862, and was mustered in as a Corporal in Company B on September 13, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, then died of "chronic diarrhoea" (dysentery) at White Oak Church, Virginia, on March 13, 1863.
