Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 28, 1862, and was mustered in as a Corporal in Company K on September 13, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, and the May 1863 Chancellorsville Campaign, and was honorably mustered out on June 27, 1863.

He then enlisted in the Union Navy, serving as a Landsman and Captain of the Hold on several ships, including the USS Wabash and the USS Princeton.

Filed for US Army Invalid Veteran Pension February 18, 1891 (Application #988442, no certificate).

On June 3, 1922 his wife, Eliza Adams, filed for a US Navy Widow’s Pension (Application #1190172, Certificate #930423).
