Line of Duty Death.
Having served the department for 28 years, Captain Baranowski lost his life at a house fire at 3631 Underwood. After extinguishing the fire the crew was cleaning up and confirming that the fire was extinguished. While on the roof pulling shingles he lost consciousness. On scene was the District Chief and he went up and brought Captain Baranowski down the ladder. A technique that would not become well-known to the public until the early 1970's, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR, was attempted. However, all attempts to revive the Captain failed. He was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
