Robert served as a Flight Officer & Pilot on C-47A "Sure Skin" #42-23860, 393rd Squadron, 15th Air Depot Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in California prior to the war.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" when his C-47A apparently caught fire and exploded for an unknown reason and crashed in the San Pedro Bay close to Leyte during bad weather.

This crash occurred 4 days after World War II had ended.

The entire crew of 4 and all 26 passengers perished on this flight.
