Together with Bert Kaempfert he composed and arranged a lot of hits for singers like Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin.

Rehbein pay international attention by composing the olympic-fanfare for the 1972 Summer Olympics.

In 1955 he marry the swiss Ruth Wellstein. They become parents of twin-boys. Since the 1960th he lived in Switzerland where he died from cancer.

Herbert Rehbein and Bert Kaempfert were posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1993.
