PEARL JAMES GENTRY
---Pearl James Gentry was born October 31, 1895 in Ft. Worth, Texas and died at his home in Gifford Thursday morning, October 28, 1926 at 6:20 p.m. At the time of his death he was thirty years, eleven months and twenty-seven days of age.
---He was married to Miss Opal Holcroft of Gifford December 25, 1919. To this union were born three children, Bernice, Gerald and Charles. Mrs. Gentry passed away May 3, 1923. He was united in marriage to Miss Hazel Gentry of Gifford, August 31, 1925. Besides his wife and three children he also leaves his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gentry of Locust Hill, Missouri, one sister, Mrs. Ella Mangus of Gifford, Missouri, one half-sister, Miss Mamie Gentry, three brothers, Fred Gentry of Hurdland, Missouri, Walter and Irven Gentry of Gifford, Missouri and one half-brother, Rolla Gentry, also several other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. His mother died twenty-two years ago.
---He was drafted into military service in August, 1917 and was honorably discharged in March, 1918.
---He united with the Presbyterian Church at the age of eighteen. He was a member of the Gifford Odd Fellows Lodge No. 761, also Gifford Rebekah Lodge No. 559 and was held in high esteem by its members.
---He had been in the government hospital in St. Louis almost four weeks before his death. He came from the hospital Saturday night and died Thursday morning.
---Funeral services were held at the Gifford Christian Church Friday, October 29, 1926 at 2:00, conducted by Rev. Acree of Kirksville. The I.O.O.F. and Rebeckah Lodges took charge of the funeral. He was laid to rest in the Indian Hill cemetery north of Gifford and attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends.
