Norwegian elkhound, who was our family pet in the 80's. My brother took her for elk hunting a few times, but Milla would have liked to do it more often. It was so cool to run around the woods and bark at the great elks in the brisk and frosty autumn days.
But she was a good guard dog also, even so good that it destined her fate. She got loose from the string at our yard and ran after a passer-by, who got frightened of her barking and informed the incident for the local rural police officer. When the police came later to our home to talk about the complaint, only my mom was at home at the time. She had no choice than to promise to get Milla to be put to sleep by a vet.
Milla produced one litter of 6 puppies by a german shepard dog, who happened to run loose in the area one winter. I had a chance to help her during the delivery. One of the puppies, Jessica, was kept by our family, but unfortunately she was also put to sleep at the same time than Milla, her mom.
After all the years we still miss them both and wish they forgive us for what we did.
