NEW BOSTON, Ill. - Marissa N. Tharp, 20, New Boston, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Alorton, Ill.
Burial will be at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, Ill., is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Westmer High School Volleyball Program.
She was born Jan. 4, 1985, in Aledo, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Wagner Tharp.
She was a 2003 graduate of Westmer High School, Joy, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and played volleyball. She was attending Western Illinois University, where she was completing her sophomore year.
She had worked at Sloan's Produce Market and the Dairy Delight in New Boston. Most recently, she was working as a waitress at Floodwaters, Muscatine.
She enjoyed swimming and loved the river. She was a member of First Christian Church, Keithsburg.
Survivors include her parents, Kenny and Mary Tharp of New Boston; a sister, Erica Tharp of New Boston; two grandparents, Irvin and Kay Tharp of Keithsburg and Clyde "Dig" and Leila Wagner of New Boston; a great-grandmother, Evelyn Link of Oquawka, Ill.; four aunts and uncles, Laurie and Randy Short of Oquawka, Ronnie and Darcie Tharp of Kirkwood, Ill., Deb and Tim Sloan of New Boston and Brad and Mindy Wagner of O'Fallon, Mo.; and cousins, Abby, Randi Lynn and Roxanne Short, Mallory and Miranda Tharp, Chloe Wagner and Jennifer Turnis.
