Mayme Berberich, 88, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN surrounded by all of her children.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 4, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Tim Bushy presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Brooks, MN.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral.

Mayme was born June 23, 1918 in Lambert Township, near Oklee, MN the daughter of Onezime and Permelia (Hince) Asselin. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN and attended school in Oklee, MN.

On July 1, 1940 Mayme was united in marriage to Leander Berberich in Oklee, MN. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She worked at Third Base in Brooks, MN from 1968 until the death of her husband in 1981.

Mayme was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN and enjoyed daily devotions, visiting with family and friends. She took great pride in watching her daughters the "Berberich Gals" play softball, she also enjoyed sharing her great cooking with any friend, family, or relative who stopped by to visit. She loved gardening and life on the family farm. Mayme took her vocation of being a wife and mother to its fullest! An unkind word was never spoken. Her other interests included knitting, embroidery, card games or fishing. Mom was thrilled to jump in the car and go wherever it took her.

She is survived by sons: LeRoy, Lawrence (Sue), Butch, John (Stacey) Berberich all of Brooks, MN; daughters: Marge (Tom) Miller and Loretta (Larry) Pittman, all of Thief River Falls, MN, Alice (Sonnie) Balstad, and Sue (fiancé, Jack Nelson) Olson, all of Fosston, MN, Fritz Liebl, Mahnomen, MN, Betty (Mark) Lindy and Rita (Kevin) Fenner, all of Bemidji, MN, Kay (Joe) Sharp, Erskine, MN, Connie (Charles) Bishop, Oklee, MN and Janet (Rick) Koivisto, Plummer, MN; sister, Lucille (Marvin) Strande of Crookston; 20 grandchildren, Michelle, Lynn, Corey, Tammy, Kyle, Renee, Loren, Lorray, Lana, Ami, Matt, Luke, Eric, Allen, Gail, Mark, Carl, Stephanie, Brittany, Ben; 14 great grandchildren, Alexis, Megan, Taylor, Linzie, Bailey, Nick, Noah, Blake, Bowen, Kimberlee, Jack, Charlie, Nick, and Luke; sisters-in-law, Madonna Asselin, Delores Berberich, Dorothy Lessard, and Phyllis Grinsteiner.

Mayme is preceded in death by husband, Leander; son, Linus, daughter, Carol Harbott; parents; grandchildren, Chad Berberich, Jana & Jennifer Miller; sons-in-law, Richard Dugstad, Kenny Liebl, and Gene Olson; brothers, Harvey, Joseph, Walter and Thomas; sisters, Rose Lessard, Celene Asselin, Cora Rossignal, and Bernice Wicks.
