Trail - Timothy Olson, 45, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Pastor Bob Kelly officiating. Nancy Lee was the organist, and special music was provided by Donna Sherman. Casketbearers were Dale Bjerklie, Keith Paulson, Stanley Solheim, Rick Steile, Gary Halvorson, Harvey Carlson and Louis Vettleson. Interment will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston was in charge of the arrangements.
Timothy James Olson was born on July 12, 1952 in Fosston, the son of Emil and Clara (Tollefson) Olson. He grew up on the family farm near Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1970. He was baptized and confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Sweno on June 26, 1976 at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully. From 1970 to 1981, Tim lived in Thief River Falls and worked for Arctic Cat, Inc. Tim moved with his family in 1981 to Hickory township north of Gully and worked for Sweno Construction from 1981 until 1984. He then went to work for Steile Farms of Gully and worked there until 1989. Tim then began employment on pipeline construction, working on job sites throughout the midwestern states until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Local 49er's Union. Tim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the family pets.
Tim is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Kimberly and Stephanie, both at home; six brothers, Emery (Diane) of Pembine, WI, Richard (Myrna) of Thief River Falls, Gene (Elaine) of Fosston, Gary (Mary Jo) of Chanhassen, Robert (Karen) of McIntosh and David (Ruth) of Fosston; three sisters, Patricia (Mike) Lynch of Minnetonka, Corrine Varholdt of Hopkins, and Victoria (Alvin) Olson of Fosston; two aunts and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Reed Swenson and brother-in-law, Robert Swenson.
