Peyton Russell House, age 80, of Edwardsville, died at 12:19 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Peyton was retired from maintenance having worked 20 years at Union Starch and Refining Company, 20 years at Nesco Steel Barrell, and 10 years in food service at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
Peyton was born April 27, 1930, in Granite City, son of the late Peyton and Lillian (Mosby) House.
He married Rose Mary Wickman on May 1, 1954, in Granite City, and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, John P. House and his wife Nora of Bridgeton, Mo., Dennis M. House and his wife Jennifer of Kinkaid, Illinois, and James M. House and his wife Lisa of New Bedford, Mass.; two daughters, Ida Marie House of Edwardsville and Pauline F. Daniel and husband Glenn of Woodville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kristen, Alex, and Jacob House, Jarrod and Peter Daniel; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Mary Evalyn House of Alton.
Peyton was preceded in death by a brother, David E. House.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
There is no visitation.
A memorial mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Kessler officiating.
According to his wishes, Peyton's body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society .
