Nora Alexander, age 95, of Fairfield, Ohio, died Friday, February 2, 1996 at 5:31 pm in Tri County Extended Care Center in Fairfield.

She has now joined God's band of Heavenly Angels, having earned her wings with her life here on earth. She was born on January 22, 1901 near Sardis, Kentucky, the daughter George M. and Ida (Gifford) McKenzie, being educated in the Kentucky Public Schools. She was also a graduate of the Milton Beauty Academy of Cincinnati. On January 22, 1924 in Newport, Kentucky she married Bert E. Alexander and the couple enjoyed more than 52 years together before his death on September 29, 1976.

A resident of Lindenwald since 1924, she was the owner of Nora's Beauty Shop for over 20 years. She was a lady of many talents and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and all kinds of craftwork. A number of years ago, she and her husband were spotlighted by the Journal News in a full page story on their talents and projects in their retirement years.

She was a member of Lindenwald United Methodist Church for over 70 years and her firm faith in God was a guiding light for her family and all who knew her. She was a believer that we should all love and help one another and often showed by example by providing food and other support for friends and neighbors that were in need.

She was a 42 year member of Washington Chapter #195 Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Hermon Shrine #19, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Fairfield Homemakers, United Methodist Women, Loyal Arminta Circle and Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary Unit #5.

She is survived by her children and spouses, G. Thomas (Insun) Alexander of Fairfield, Lenora (William) Albright-Wheatley of Fairfield, and Robert L. (Pat) Alexander of Hamilton; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters; her twin, Dora Killian, Elva McKenzie and Sadie Hewitt.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 6, 1996, at 10 am, at the Lindenwald United Methodist Church, 3501 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton. Burial will be be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton with Washington Chapter #195 O.E.S. services at 7pm. If so desired, rememberances may be sent to Lindenwald United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Alter Guild.
