McIntosh, Thurmon Harrell

On January 3, 1924, a baby boy was born to Willie and Carrie [Harvey] McIntosh in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. They named him Thurmon Harrell McIntosh and he was the fifth of eight children in this family.

Thurmon enlisted with the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably during World War II, from June 25, 1943 until May 4, 1946.

He worked for many years as head of maintenance at the McIntosh Nursing Home until his retirement.

Thurmon lived and loved life, where you could always catch him watching a baseball or a football game. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He also enjoyed fishing.

Mr. McIntosh, in his 86th season, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Carrie McIntosh, five brothers and two sisters, Ernest, Anderson, Doretha, Johnnie, Willie, Sam and Dollie.

Those left to cherish his memory; Eula, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Debra Williams, Michael [Catherine] McIntosh, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Tosha McIntosh, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a granddaughter he raised as his own, LaRhonda [Byron] Maxwell; a special friend, Peggy; along with a caravan of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
