MR. HENRY BINGAMAN
Mr. Henry Bingaman, son of Chris and Amanda Bingaman, was born June 17, 1853, in Indiana. With his parents and brothers and sisters he moved to Iowa when he was but a child of two years, locating in the vicinity of Oakdale, where he made his home until his death.
In the year 1872 he was united in wedlock to Miss Phoebe Jane Rolle, of Oakdale, to which union were born six children: Chris, Fred, Ida, John, Mary and Maggie. In the year 1887, he moved to Oregon for the sake of his wife's health. Not satisfied with the results, he came back after a year's duration.
On March 24, 1922, Mrs. Bingaman passed away, having been preceded in death by her daughter, Maggie, who died in the spring of 1917. On October 25, 1924, Mr. Bingaman was united in marriage to Mrs. Myrtle Dickey, of Bussey, who survives him.
He passed away at the Yocom hospital in Chariton on Tuesday morning, April 22, 1930, after a short period of critical illness. He had been in failing health for some time but nothing serious manifested itself until a recent date.
He was a faithful member of the Oakdale Methodist church from his youth until the time of his death. He was ever loyal to the call and service of the Master, who was so personal and such a persistent companion of his. He was a loving father and an example of brotherly love to all his friends and relatives. His step children were as dear and affectionate in his sight as were those of his own blood.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Myrtle, three brothers and two sisters, James, of Denison, Iowa; Daniel, of Canada; Isaac, of Oregon; Mrs. Susan Buzzard, of Oregon; Miss Rachel Bingaman, of Iowa. Also his grandchildren, James, John, Mary, Morris, Katherine, Michael and Florence Bingaman; Worth, Ernest and Frank Bingaman; Ruby, Harold, Pearl and Oren Hancock; James, Madonna and Paul Bingaman; Floyd, Vera, Theodore, Rex and William Spaur. Also five step-children, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Meeker, of Williamson, on Thursday forenoon at the Oakdale church.
