Died of disease April 15, 1864, St. Louis, Mo.

The 9th Iowa Cavalry served majority of its
time in Missouri and Arkansas dealing with
guerillas including the notorious Quantrill, outlaw bands and
rebel forces. After cessation of the Civil War the
regiment was assigned to Texas for several weeks to escort a
government wagon train through hostile Indian
territory.
