On 18 August 1951 she married Helmut Kilz in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. They become parents of three children. The family lived in Seegrehna.
In February 1956 son Harald died at an ileus at the age of three years.
Her father-in-law Gustav comitted suicide in August 1957.
Husband Helmut died of Hodgkin's lymphoma in September 1965, aged 35, which is why she raised her two daughters alone.
She died of cancer on Sunday morning of May 8, 1988 at the age of 61.
Her sister Gertrud died two months before her.
