Born Jan. 2, 1939, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of her stepmother, Lois E. (Koppelman) Toms, Waynesboro, and the late Paul E. and Edna Pensinger Toms. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
Jean graduated from the Waynesboro High School with the class of 1956.
She and her late husband, Melvin Eugene Reichard, were married on Oct. 11, 1958, at Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro. They moved to the present residence in 1966. Mr. Reichard died Nov. 7, 1994.
Mrs. Reichard worked her early life at Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro, and then worked for K.G. Potter Insurance Co., Waynesboro. Prior to retiring in 2005, she was an insurance agent for Craig-Friedly Potter & Moore Insurance Agency for 27 years.
She was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, where she served as treasurer of the Trinity United Church of Christ Nursery School. She also was a member of Delta Y. Gradale Sorority, Apple Valley Painters Club and Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary.
Jean enjoyed painting, traveling, gardening, doing crafts and mostly spending time with her family.
In addition to her stepmother, she is survived by three daughters, Angela M. Mongan of Greencastle, Carla S. Everhart of Cary, N.C., and Julia A. Mohn of Waynesboro; and seven grandchildren.
