COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY - 10/23/2011 - Adolph F. Scharf, Jr., 86, an Army veteran of WWII, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011. Adolph was born on May 28, 1925 in New Albany to the late Adolph F. and Mary E. (Willis) Scharf, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Holden, Helen Beswick, and Frances Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma J. (Kapps) Scharf; children, Michael J. Scharf (Barbara) of Woodbridge, VA, David J. Scharf (Susan) of New Albany, Nancy A. Scharf of Louisville, KY; brother, Edward Scharf (Jane) of Sellersburg; grandchildren, Kristan, Ashley, Jeffrey, Victoria, Elizabeth Scharf, and Jenna Johnson (Charles). Visitation will be 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
