Ill since last Saturday when he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, after having ice cream and lemonade when he finished mowing grass.
Jacob A. Straub. 59, of 403 Emerald St.Alton,Illinois died 11:55 a.m. May 09, 1964 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
An employee of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp,for 20 years, Mr. Straub had worked May 1, the day before entering the hospital.

Mr. Straub was born at Volskorn, MO, and had lived in Shipman, Illinois before moving to Alton nine years ago.
Mr. Straub was a member and a trustee of Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the Westerner Club.

Surviving are his widow, the former Irene Gross; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Richie, Sunnyside, Calif., three step-sons, Robert E., and William A. Gross of Alton, and Richard G., Godfrey; four brothers, Ernest, Carlock: John, Belleflower: Edwin, Decatur, and Arnold, Elsworth; four sisters, Mrs Rosalie Fey, Washington, DC., Mrs. Dean Bunderson, Utah, Mrs. Walter Stille, Ellsworth, and Miss Hilda Straub, St. Louis. There are nine grandchildren.

Gent Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.

With the Rev. Paul S. Krebs, pastor of Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church, officiating funeral services for Jacob A. Straub. Burial was in Shipman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arthur Laux,L. W. Hanes. George Owen, Roy Bartlow. William Jackson, and George Lohr.
