Kemp, Richard J. Of Jackson passed away Thurs., Jan. 20, 2011, at Ft. Lewis, Washington at the age of 22. He was born in Milwaukee, raised in Jackson and graduated from West Bend East High School in 2006. He then attended a year of schooling at MSOE before entering the US Army in June of 2008. Richard was a 2nd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do thru Dukatz Academy, and enjoyed camping, hiking, backpacking and running. Specialist Richard James Kemp, 22, was assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Kemp was deployed twice to Irag in support of the War on Terror. Kemp completed One Station Unit Training as an Infantryman and attended the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Assessment and Selection Course all at Fort Benning, before being assigned to Company D, 2nd Bn., 75th Rgr. Rgt., as a rifleman. His military education includes the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program. Much of Ranger Kemp's deployments and military service are of a sensitive nature, and the details will remain classified. His awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Parachutist Badge. He has also been awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. As a Ranger, Specialist Richard Kemp selflessly lived his life for others and distinguished himself as a member of the Army's premier light-infantry unit, continuously deployed in support of the War on Terror, and fought valiantly as he served his fellow Rangers and our great Nation.

Burial was with full military honors.
