Sargent Michael Barry was assigned to the 205th Medical Battalion, Missouri Army National Guard, Kansas City, Missouri.

Michael was killed in a road accident in Qatar. Three fellow comrades were injured. The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. as the four solders were returning from Doha to Camp As Sayliyah when their vehicle was struck by another vehicle. All four service personnel were transported from the accident site to Ammad General Hospital in the capital, where Sargent Barry died from severe head trauma.

Mike graduated from Tri-City Christian School in 1992, and Johnson County Community College with an Associate of Science Degree in Radiological Technology. He was active in Campus Crusade for Christ at JCCC. Prior to being called to active duty, Mike worked as a Special Procedures Technician in the Radiology Department at Overland Park Regional Hospital.

Mike was a devout Christian and a member of the Kansas City Baptist Temple where he coached youth soccer league as well as intramural volleyball. As a member of the 205th Area Support Medical Battalion, he served as a Combat Medic, Preventative Medicine Sergeant, and was currently serving as a Radiological Technician. His many accomplishments included the Army Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Missouri Seditious Service Ribbon, and the Missouri Long Service Ribbon.

Mike will always be remembered for his brilliant smile and his love for God. He leaves behind his wife, Spc. Jennifer Barry, also a member of the Missouri National Guard.
