Kimberly was the daughter of Rosemary (Clara) and Theodore J. Kassab, sibling of Erik [10], Jennifer [8] and Scott [5]. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Frank D. and Anita M. Clara,and Uncles Robert and Fortunato Clara. Also survived by Aunts, Carolina Petrykowski, Mayann Perry, Anita Lambert and Evelyne [Kassab] Hamlyn, and Uncles Frank J., James J., John R. Clara, and George, Edward and Gabriel Kassab, Godparents Robert and Carol Binkowski and several cousins, Great Aunts and Great Uncles too numerous to list.
Kimberly was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in September 1981 and bravely fought the disease for eight months [after being given a prognosis of zero to three months] before accepting 'Jesus's invitation to heaven' at the tender age of nine years. Kimberly said that "Jesus will ask you if you want to come with Him, and you can say no and He won't even get mad! He'll just come back and ask you again, and again and again, until YOU are ready to go with Him". In Kimberly's own words "I'm gonna live forever...just think of me and I will be with you."
She was a 3rd grade student at Hunter Elementary School, Brownstown Twp., and an active member of Community Lutheran Church, Flat Rock, Michigan. She enjoyed basketball, soccer, roller skating, music and lived her short, but meaningful, life to the fullest.
Kim's favorite song [which in addition to the traditional Christian Hymns that was played at her funeral], was "Fame" by Irene Cara.
"I'm Gonna Live Forever" is a line from the song that is also on her headstone.
The song says "I can catch the moon in my hands" and I believe she could! Once while at a local park, a bird kept 'dive bombing' my four children and myself....after a few minutes of ducking and dodging the bird Kimberly simply reached up and 'plucked' him from the sky! After cupping him in her hands and scolding him she released him and off he flew without so much as even looking back! On another occasion, I had taken my four kids to the Huron River to do some fishing one night after dinner as I often did. It was 'almost a given' that all four would cast off in the same area 'catching' each other's lines, leaving me to untangle, cut off and reattach the hook, sinker, bobber and of course 're-worm'. This one particular evening, Kimberly was getting a little impatient waiting for her rod to be ready again so, she picked up the 'fish bucket' and waded into the water, scooped some water into the bucket so it wouldn't float off and proceeded to reach down into the water, pick up the fish and place them in the bucket! A short time later, we had a bucket FULL of sheep-head, silver bass, carp and a few perch!

Although Kim's time on earth was short, 1973-1982, the 'dash' between those years truly represent her life, her accomplishments and wisdom....she was truly a 'child of God' transformed from an 'earth angel' to a 'guardian angel'.
