Cummings-The funeral of Mrs. Walter A. Cumming was held from her late home, 2424 Petit street, Sunday afternoon March 25th.
Rev. John E. Mealey preached the funeral sermon from the text John 14:2 and a quartette consistins of Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Schnackenberg, Mr. Emil Ward and Mr. George MacComd, accompanied by Mrs. Powell, sang three beautiful hymns; "By Cool Siloams Shady Hill", "Fade, Fade, Each Earthy Joy", and "Asleep in Jesus" Miss Emma Young, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Young now of Detroit, was born in Applegate, Mich., in 1881, and was married twelve yers ago. Besides her husband, parents and two sons Leonard aged ten and Leslie aged eight, she leaves four sisters, Mrs. Leonard Cumming and Mrs. Floyd Osborn of Port Huron, Mrs. L.W. Lymburner and Mrs. L. VandeGeissen of Detroit, and two brothers, S. B. Young, of Deckerville, and Norval Young, of Detroit. Mrs. Cumming was a member of the mIlls Memorial Ladies and Aid Society, and Looking Backward club. and Obejah club. Her health was not a robust but all of her friends were socked to hear of her untimely death last Friday morning, A death which is the first break in the large family circle, that has been so prominent in the social and religious like of the community. Mr. Cumming is employed by the Engine and Thresher Co., and many of the men were present to tender to him their loving sympathy in his bereavement. The body was laid away under a mass of flowers at Lakeside Cemetery.
