Services for Elinor Mae Akridge, 84, of Temple will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Hubert Austin and the Rev. LaVelle Haynes officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Akridge died Monday in a Temple nursing home.

She was born in Temple to William A. and Pearl E. Neal. She had lived in Bell County most of her life. A Temple High School graduate, she graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1966. She married Albert Akridge in 1932 in Temple. He died in January 1976. She was a teacher at Lamar Junior High School for 23 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She belonged to a travel club and was a master bridge player. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist church of Temple and Friendship Sunday School Class.

Survivors are three sons, Neal Akridge of Horseshoe Bay, James Akridge of Austin, and Wayne Akridge of Round Rock; two daughters, Roylinn Harris of Houston and Ann VanVolkenburgh of Lake Jackson; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
