Married Frederick Garst, in Mt. Joy, Lancaster Co., PA. Known children:
1. Catherine (born 1800, died 1881)
2. Peter (born 1808, died 1887)
3. Jacob (born 1809, died 1850)
4. Nancy Emma (m Abraham Bender Hunsberger)
Although the stone looks like the death date is May 28, 1846 I have been told that it actually reads 1841.
June 3, 2016 note from Mary MacCracken, "The cemetery stone shows 1841 (and that would mean she was 62 when she died). Soon after Elizabeth (and Fred Gerst) moved to Inland/Greensburg(h), Summit County, Ohio, her mother Catharine came to live with them. Abram wrote that 'mother Hoffman died soon after she came to Ohio' -- buried Klinefelter Cemetery on the Dillman farm, Greensburg, Summit Co., OH."
March 3, 2018, ibid, "Eldest daughter Catharine Hoffman was adopted by Frederick and Elizabeth Hoffman Gerst. Our Bender genealogist Mark Painter has determined that Catharine seems to have been born 26 May 1800 Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. She was married 20 Nov 1816 to Henry Bender, and died 29 May 1881 in Osolo, Elkhart Co., IN. She and Henry had 14 children. See Find a Grave #36836888. Henry and Abraham Hunsberger's mother (Mary Bender Hunsberger) were siblings..."
