My Granddad; step-father of my biological father, John Robert Pace.

Son of Isaac Newton "Jack" Pace (1874-1955) & Susan Elizabeth Howard (1879-1944); grandson of William W. & Polly A. E. (Martin) Pace and unknown Howard's.

I know nothing of his family and only learned of his siblings though the Find A Grave links.

Married Grace Emma Brown, December 22, 1928 in Norwalk, Los Angeles Co., CA. Four sons:

John Robert Brown, adopted by Henry and name changed to Pace.
William Lewis Pace
Sylvanus Hubert "Sy" Pace
Sylvester Elbert "Sid" Pace

Although we didn't have much connection with our birth father, we kept in touch with Grandma & Grandpa Pace.

Grandpa worked for the railroad and was on the shift that took him away from the farm for days at a time.

The farm had a hired hand named Ernie that taught us to milk cows and feed the chickens. I remember following the bell sound looking for the cow getting ready to birth her calf and watching the miracle of life amongst the vast open farm land. Ernie allowed us to work alongside the migrant workers picking strawberries which taught us great work ethics. We also learned that dinner was at noon, supper at 6pm and bedtime at eight. For Los Angeles city girls this was a shock as farm life started early and ended late. Fun time was swinging from the rope into the lake and swimming for hours in the cool waters of Oregon.

Grandpa Pace was always nice to us and we enjoyed each and every visit either us in Oregon or them coming to California.
