My beloved Grandma.
My Grandma died when I was very little, so I never had the privilege of truly knowing her. However, I grew up with stories about her love of our Lord Jesus Christ and her love of family.
After the death of her parents (she was only 7), she and four of her siblings were reared by Uncle John Talbert Pittman and Aunt Nora (West) Pittman.
Grandma loved to garden; grew all the food for winter and canned continually. Hardly ever had to lay a hand on the children and had a strong constitution about her.
A tall woman, probably above 5'8" and always held herself very tall and straight. Mama said her back looked like a rod was stuck down her clothes.
Married Albert Jennings Ragsdale, Valentine's Day 1927 in May, Harper Co., OK. Three children.
Grandma died in an airplane accident along with grandson, Sammy Albert Beatty in Happy Canyon, Green River Co., UT.

"Green River people were shocked to learn of the plane crash in Hatch canyon about 75 miles south of this place, Monday morning. Five people were killed. The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was owned by the Rigg Flying Service, Grand Junction. The pilot and all four passengers died when the plane crashed after taking off from a small landing strip at the Simplot Mining Co. uranium camp in Hatch canyon, Garfield county. The dead are: Thomas Moore, 23, pilot; Stanley Graybeal, 31, Nucla, Colo., an employee of J.R. Simplot Co.; Mrs. Mabel Ragsdale, 46, Nucla, cook employed at the Simplot camp; John Young, 47; Fruita, a Simplot employee; and Samuel Beatty, nine-months-old son of Arthur Beatty, Nucla, and grandson of Mrs. Ragsdale."
