Civil War Veteran. Enlisted Aug 26, 1862 in Twelfth Regiment Kansas Volunteers - Infantry, Company C; honorably discharged Jun 30, 1865 Little Rock, AR. He served along with future brother-in-laws, Milton & Wilson Goodwin.
He married Huldah Goodwin on Feb 21, 1867 in Sugar Creek, Cass Co., MO. They were the proud parents of twelve.
Grandpa Henry was a Circuit Preacher in Kansas and Oklahoma as well as a farmer. A few years ago I visited Oklahoma and walked his land (my cousins continue to own much of it). While there I saw the home he built in the late 1890s. Although it is crumbling with age, I was able to take a small section of wood with a door hinge. What a treasure!
Hazel (Gray) eyes, auburn hair, light complexion, and six feet, 2 inches tall.
Grandpa Henry lived only 76 years, 4 months, 21 days before Brights Disease got the best of him. He is much better now, as instead of telling folks of the Savior, he is living with Him!
NOTE: According to his obituary published in the Laverne Trabune December 3, 1920 (from their book: TRIBUTES OF BLUE, Page 536, by Pearcy and Talkington, 1996; copy provided by N. Dale Talkington), which I had never seen, Grandpa Henry remarried to a Mrs. Mary Ann (Howard) Robinett on October 1, 1918.
Many thanks to Scott Sprague for link to Grandpa's second marriage partner.
