After graduated from Harding High School in Oklahoma City he enlisted into the US Army in 1963. He served as a Military Policeman at Los Alamos, New Mexico. After his discharge he attended Central State College while working as a police officer in Oklahoma City. Upon graduation from college, he was employed by the US Secret Service. He worked as an agent in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Washington DC, and Saint Louis. He spent two years on protection assignment in Washington, DC with Vice Presidents Rockerfellow and Mondale. He returned to the Oklahoma City office to complete his career and retirement. However, before be could retire, he became a victim of the Murrah Federal Building booming. Don was in his 9th floor office when the boom exploded.
