Memorial Site. 8 people were killed (and over 100 injured) when a bomb exploded in the subway of Pushkinskaya Metro Station in Moscow, one of the busiest stations on the system, on 8th August 2000. The crime has never been fully solved or explained. Government sources attributed it to Chechen terrorists. Others have claimed that it was the result of 'Mafia' squabbles over property concessions, or even of 'counter-intelligence' attempts to discredit Chechen separatists.
