Victoria Anne Bowler

Victoria Anne Bowler, 42, of Charlotte, NC, went to Heaven on April 4, 2012, as a result of complications from a vigorous and brave battle with breast cancer.

Born on September 11, 1969, in Youngstown, Ohio, Vickie was the daughter of her proud parents, Robert and Marilynn Farrell Bowler, of Charlotte. She attended East Mecklenburg High School, graduated from East Carolina University and was employed as a paralegal by Stiles, Byrum & Horne Law Firm for the past 13 years.

Vickie was a smart, witty and incredibly lovely young woman with an amazing commitment to caring for others. She was passionate about her volunteer work at Levine Children's Hospital in the Children's Cancer Center, Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics/Camp SOAR, the homeless shelter, senior citizens Bingo, and Kids First.

Her staunch army of friends and the thousands of recipients of her grace and talent will miss her strength, wit and wisdom. From horseback riding to golf to tennis to working out, Vickie found joy in everything she did and was lots of fun to be around. She was - and is - truly loved.

The family extends loving thanks to Dr. Gary Frenette, Terri Carpenter, Dr. Richard White, Dr. Brian Dalrymple, and Sandy Fowler for their care and support over the past three years and during these last few weeks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gabriel Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, with Father Frank O 1/8Rourke, celebrant. Visitation will be held at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC, on Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends following the Mass at St. Gabriel Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service.
