Mrs. Eliza Jane Edmonds Alston, of Charlottesville, entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Trinity Mission Nursing Home.

She was born in Buckingham County July 6, 1928, to the late Philmore and Ella C. Edmonds.

She was predeceased by her husband, Omar Alston; two brothers, Matthew Edmonds and Frank Edmonds; and one sister, Luenell E. Booker.

Those who knew her, knew her as a warm-hearted and loving mother and friend. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She was a skillful homemaker.

She leaves to mourn her loss five sons, Ronnie Edmonds of Bremo Bluff, James Alston and his wife, Cathie, of Charlottesville, Henry Alston and his wife, Christine, of Charlottesville, Floyd Alston and his wife, Carolyn, of Suffolk, and Phillip Alston and his wife, Ada, of Charlottesville; one daughter, Lucy Alston of Charlottesville; one sister, Mary Edmonds Mason of Worchester, Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church with Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating.
