THOMAS MOODY CARR, Jr, 83, of Sea Girt (NJ), died Monday at Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant. He was employed by the federal government at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 30 years retiring in 1974. He served in the US Navy in World War II aboard the USS Leonard Wood and was a life member of the Belmar VFW Juneau Post 2680. He attended the First Presbyterian Church, Belmar. Born in Hillside, he lived in Belmar before moving to Sea Girt 46 years ago.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas Moody Carr and Annie Ella Whotton Carr, three brothers; George T., Howard H., and John R. Carr. A nephew, Pvt Alan P. Carr preceded him as well and is buried in Monmoth Mem. Park as well. Surviving are his wife, Alfreida Goldberg Carr, and several nieces and nephews including George T. Carr, Jr, George T. Carr, III, and Craig Carr.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2-6 PM and 7-9 PM Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Rt 138 Wall. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev Donald Knight officiating. Internment will follow in Monmoth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Thomas to the VFW Wall Post 1398 Central Ave. West Belmar would be appreciated.
