In true Paula fashion she was late to her own funeral. The funeral had started before the late arrival of her remains. Paula is to have claimed she would be late to her own funeral and she was.

Paula never white washed anything. She told you how it was. She was a proud parent of her children and their activities in school. She was their greatest champion. She is survived by her husband, 4 children, and he mother. She was preceded in death by her father, a career navy man, and an older brother 13 years prior.

Paula will be missed.

Paula K. Hayes, age 52, of La Crosse, Kansas and formerly of Liebenthal, Kansas, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse.

Mrs. Hayes was born on June 28, 1960 at Westminster, California, the daughter of Raymond Eugene and Velma M. (Herrman) Carver. The daughter of a U.S. Navy veteran, she lived in several areas prior to moving to Liebenthal, Kansas in 1968, and moved to La Crosse in 1995. She had worked in telemarketing and did volunteer work for Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. She found great joy in helping others in need, and loved crossword puzzles, Suduko, and watching her children play sports. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in La Crosse, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to William H. Hayes on April 27, 2011 at La Crosse, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband, William H. Hayes of La Crosse, Kansas; two sons: Chad Michael (and his wife, Lynn) Schaffer of Anderson, Missouri and Ryan Hayes of La Crosse, Kansas; two daughters: Crystal (and her husband, Dom) Mosttler of Sublette, Kansas and Billie C.L. Hayes of La Crosse, Kansas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her mother, Velma M. Carver of Liebenthal, Kansas; three brothers: Richard (and his wife, Midge) Carver of Superior, Colorado, Leslie "Scot" (and his wife, Virginia) Carver of Colby, Kansas, and Patrick (and his wife, Jill) Carver of Hays, Kansas; one sister, Vel Rae "Sis" Starkey of Liebenthal, Kansas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Douglas Carver.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no public viewing. The register book will be available for signing on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Liebenthal, Kansas.

The family will conduct Memorial Services on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Liebenthal, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the Paula K. Hayes Memorial Fund.
