He was first at Adams,MA, then relocated to Tioga Co,NY in 1805, members of the Massachusetts syndicate that purchased townships in the region. While there, Laban was a Captain and then a Lt.Colonel in the Militia in Tioga County. They removed to Bloomfield,MI on Nov 10,1821. Laban purchased the NE square in Lot 34, and built the first log cabin west of the River Rouge.
