Christina Elizabeth Nicholls was born on September 19, 1855 in West Mersea, Essex, England, the daughter of John and Ann Collins Nicholls. She was the 6th of 7 children.

Her father was in the Royal Coast Guard and as a result, she travelled a lot during her childhood. It was in Dover, Kent, England that Christine met her husband Charles James Vincent and where they were married in St Paul's Catholic Church on April 19, 1877. It was also in Dover that the first of her 13 children, Nellie Elizabeth, was born.

She followed her husband to Malta, where Frances Mary and Florence were born. Unfortunately, neither of these children survived childhood.

Two more children, Percy John and Herbert Henry were born during their father's service in Begal, East India.

James Collins, Francis George, Ivy Agnes and Charles Vincent were born durning their father's service in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. It was here that Percy passed away.

In December 1898, Mary Magdalene died and was buried in Candie Cemetery on the island.

Between 1907 and 1909 Christina and the bulk of the Vincent family emegrated to Lansing, Michigan to join her son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Florence Vincent. Only Nellie, who was married with a family of her own remained behind in England.
