Robert Henry Lawrence Jr. was cremated at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago according to an article entitled "Chicago Shares Grief Of Black Astronaut's Kin" from the Chicago Daily Defender dated 13 Dec 1967. He had a large funeral in the Graceland chapel handled by the Griffin Funeral Home, but afterwards his ashes were sent to the Griffin Funeral Home, now closed. He was survived by his wife Barbara and eight-year-old son Tracey.
Robert Lawrence is not buried in Graceland Cemetery. His final resting place is unknown.
