Opal Lorraine Colver Fenter died June 10, 2009. She passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday in a local nursing home.

She was born in Bozeman on Dec. 5, 1935, to Robert T. and Johanna (Verwolf) Colver. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1953, and after working a few jobs in retail, started working for the Montana Power Co. in 1960.

In the late 1960s, she moved to Phoenix and lived with her sister for two years, but due to the heat returned to Montana, taking a job with Montana Power in Butte. She retired in September 1996.

Lorraine spent the majority of her life researching and developing the complete genealogical history for the Colver family and its various branches, having successfully traced her father's family back to British royalty in the 1650s.

She spent many years organizing family reunions that started small with just the Verwolf family but grew to include many relatives in the Manhattan, Belgrade, Churchill and Bozeman areas. She always made her genealogical work available to family at the reunions and eventually generated so much interest that she had to make copies of her work for representatives from each Verwolf family.

She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and ceramics. She made many beautiful pieces considered treasures by her family.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Johanna (Verwolf) Colver; sister-in-law, Carol Jean Brown Colver; and her former husband, Lee Fenter.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Rosemary Colver, Robert and Linda Colver, sister, Arlene Colver and their families.

Funeral services for Lorraine will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Bozeman. Memorials in memory of Lorraine may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
