On Feburary 5, 1943, she married Merle Matthews, and they had 50 great years together before Merle died in July 1993.
She owned and operated the Shanty Café for many years. Upon selling it, she worked at Western Café, the Pines Café and at Restvedt's Meat Market.
During her retirement she enjoyed bowling and was an avid bingo player. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Iva was a loving and generous person and was well known for her friendly and outgoing personality. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a brother, Pete (Betty) Verwolf of Paramount, Calif.; three sons, Dennis Matthews of Bozeman, LeRoy (Linda) Matthews and James Matthews, both of Livingston; grandchildren, Lonnie Matthews of Anchorage, Alaska, Leanne Landum of Florence, Ky., Dan Matthews of Livingston, and Jeremy Matthews; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Trevor of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Albert and Myrtle; and two sisters, Anna and Thelma.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Should friends desire, memorials in her name may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210.
