Mrs. Sara Etta Cuddy, 82, Canon City, died at 8 A.M. Saturday after an illness lasting two weeks. She had been a resident of Canon City for six years, but had been a Fruita resident for 75 years.

Mrs. Cuddy was born Sara Goss, October 31, 1885 near Pueblo. She came to Fruita with her parents when she was two years old and lived in the Fruita area until she moved to Canon City in 1962.

On December 25, 1904, she married Thomas W. Cuddy in Fruita. He had been in the cattle business, as was her father. Mr. Cuddy died in Fruita in 1959.

Mrs. Cuddy was a member of the Christian Science church, and had been a member of the Fruita Rebekah Lodge. She started work as a postal clerk in the Fruita Post Office in the 1940s and worked there until approximately 15 years ago.

Survivors include a son, John Cuddy, Fruita; three daughters, Mrs. Mike Springer, Grand Junction, Mrs. Fred E. Smith, Pueblo, and Mrs. R. L. Klinzman, Denver; two brothers, Jake Goss, Fruita, and Morgan Goss, Grand Junction; two sisters, Mrs. S. N. Kilby, Fruita, and Mrs. Lula Havens, Vernal, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be in Grand Junction.
