Aurora Myrtle (Goss) Pavey was the third of fourteen children born to William J. and Amanda Virginia (Graybeal) Goss. Around 1884-1886 she moved with her folks to Pueblo, Colorado, then on to Fruita, Colorado where she was raised and attended Fruita schools. She married Joseph Anderson Pavey on February 19, 1894 in Mesa, Colorado. They lived in Colorado and Wyoming before moving to Montana in May of 1909. The following year Joseph filed on a homestead up Sixteen Mile north of Maudlow where the couple lived until they sold the homestead in 1926 and moved their dairy to Belgrade. Joseph and Myrtle celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Belgrade on February 19, 1944, holding an open house to family and friends.

Myrtle was a true pioneer woman as she worked side by side with her husband in developing the homestead, milking cows and tending to chickens and pigs. She churned butter and gathered eggs, which she sold or traded for groceries. They raised five children in a small cabin on the homestead: Louis Anderson, b. November 6, 1895, d. January 10, 1976; Grace Emily, b. September 1, 1898, d. February 11, 1986; James William, b. May 15, 1901, d. May 20, 1991; Myrtle Edna, b. November 25, 1909, d. July 20, 2006; and Bertha Elma, b. April 24, 1914.

Myrtle developed an enlarged heart and passed away at the age of 75 at the home of her daughter, Grace E. (Pavey) Biggs of Bozeman.
