Thomas Edward Young enlisted in Co. C, 109th NY Inf on 12 August 1862 at Barker, Broome County, New York. He was discharged from the military at Washington, D. C., on 4 June 1865.
In October 1865 he married Emma Ruth Van Guysling in Binghamton, Broome County, New York.
Thomas Edward Young changed his name to Thomas Edwards sometime after he left New York.
He applied for and received a pension for his military service in July 1921 in Indiana.
