Lola Lee Megahee, age 101, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local nursing home on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. Lola was born on June 16, 1911, in Samson, Ala., to Hubert and Ada Patrick. Lola and husband, Thomas J. Megahee, who preceded her in death, moved to Fort Walton Beach in the early 40's. Her father built the Patrick Cottages on Brooks Street in the early 30's. Until her health declined, she was an active member of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ. She and her husband were one of the initial founders of the Church. She retained her strong faith in God and Jesus throughout her long life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

She leaves behind a son, Thomas J. Megahee Jr., of Fort Walton Beach; a daughter, Celena Carmichael, also of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Thomas J. Megahee III, of Fort Walton Beach, Donetta L. Heckaman (Robert) of Fort Walton Beach, and Timothy S. Megahee (Gail) of Crestview, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Chazz E. Heckaman, Celena M. Heckaman and Savannah M. Megahee, all of Fort Walton Beach.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the McLaughlin Mortuary. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Brother Jeff Custer officiating. Following services, entombment will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Church of Christ Building Fund, 232 Hollywood Blvd. S.E. Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, in memory of Lola Megahee.
