Information on Sarah is almost non-existent.

One view has her as the daughter of Joshua & Sarah Cowell. This is based on a Duke Genealogy Chart by Alene McCall Parker 1972

The chart shows Sarah Cowell, d/o Joshua & Sarah.
{Ms Parker is deceased and no proof of this has been found.)
In this time, the late 1700 - early 1800s, there are many Cowells found in Currituck Co, but no Joshua or Sarah.}

Sarah's 1742 birth date (or before) is an estimate based on her daughter Mary's birth. There is nothing that shows that Sarah had any more children than Mary (Duke) Curling.

We do know that Sarah was the wife of a Mr. Duke. His given name is not known for sure, it possibly is Andrew or Robert, (see below).

On 6 May 1806 in Currituck County, NC Andrew Duke and his wife Sarah rent land to Leven Dunton. Regretfully no other earlier or later deed record for this property have been found. There is another Andrew Duke but his 1825 will shows his wife as Rhoda and does not show a daughter Mary.

FamilySearch.org shows Sarah's husband was Robert Duke. No proof for this has been found.

In a 1 Feb 1796 Currituck County court record Sarah sets up a instrument to take effect when she dies. In it Sarah Duke gives her daughter Mary Curling and my son in law Josiah Curling and his wife Mary Curling a list of personal items. This type of document would have been made if Sarah was a widow. More questions unanswered.

Again other than her daughter Mary no other children are known.

Sarah's burial location is unknown. As was the custom she undoubtedly was buried in a family cemetery in Currituck County. At the time locally they used wooden markers which lasted but a decade or so.
