James Mannington Hamilton, son of Emanuel and Harriet (Search) Hamilton. Beloved husband of Zymilla (Millie) Monnette Hamilton. Father of Oliver Hamilton and Merle Hamilton. Grandfather of two. James was born in the log cabnin his grandfather built on the property north of Marion. Hamilton took his father's small stone quarry north of Marion and, along with his sons, converted it into one of the largest operations of it kind in Marion County. J.M. Hamilton & Sons remained operational and independent into the 1980s decades after other locally owned quarries ceased to exist.
