Mary Tinsley Adkins
HOMER, LA - Funeral services will be held for Mary Tinsley Adkins, 89, at the First Baptist Church in Homer on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. James Simeon, pastor of First Baptist Church of Homer. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Adkins passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Homer Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Claiborne Parish, she was a graduate of Homer High School, and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana State University. Mrs. Adkins was a substitute teacher and secretary at Homer High School at retirement. She was a member of numerous civic organizations and an active member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Homer.
Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Mr. Aloys C. Adkins. She is survived by their children and spouses respectively, Jerry Aloys Adkins and wife Martha of Homer, LA, Tommy Jess Adkins and wife Dianne of Ruston, LA and Pamela Adkins Yester and husband, Charles of Doha, Qatar; she is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. D.K. Haynes, Mrs. Deborah Woodard and the medical staff of Homer Memorial Hospital for their loving care of our Mother. The family also wishes to express their love and appreciation to Mrs. Betty Haynes for her friendship and loving care of our Mother.
