Agnes was the second of six children born to James Lafayette and Lucy Ann (Boatright) Garrison. She married John Wesley 'Johnny Bull' Barter in 1895 and they had four children: Jewell David 'J.D., Madge (twin), Minnie (twin) and Rueben Charles 'Ruby'.

Death Takes Mrs.
John W. Barter

Mrs. Agnes Barter died Saturday at 12:45 p.m. at the County Club Manor following an illness of two years. She was the widow of John W. Barger, who died in 1946.
She was born in Mt. Vernon on June 11, 1879, daughter of the late Fayette and Lucy Garrison and for many years was a resident of the North America Community. She was a member of the North America Baptist Church.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Emery (Madge) Kaid, Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Minnie Owen, Riverside, J. D. Barter and Rue Barter, both of Harrisburg, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Grace Fuller, Cobden and a brother, Hubert Garrison, Dallas, Tex. A brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Gaskins Funeral Home, where friends may call. The Rev. Cloid Wesley and the Rev. Jess Clarida will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
