son of the late Charles Henry Canning and Mrs. Sarah A. Canning, 38, Merville Place, Kingstown [now Dun Laoghaire], Dublin.

Charles James Wilkinson Canning was born on 21 June 1893, at 42, Mulgrave Street, Kingstown [now Dun Laoghaire]. Son of Charles Henry Canning and Sarah Ann Canning, formerly Uncles.
His father was then the Station Master at Kingstown.

In the 1901 census, the family were living at Upper George's Street, Kingstown.
It was a large house, with 9 rooms.
present were,
Charles Henry Canning, aged 33, a Station Master, married, born in Co. Wexford.
Sarah Ann, his wife, aged 41, a Dressmaker, married, born in Co. Wicklow,

Susan Elizabeth, daughter, aged 5,
Frances Margarita, daughter, aged 4,
Thomas William, son, aged 9 months,
all of the children had been born in Co. Dublin.
