Georgia College of Eclectic Medicine and Surgery, Atlanta, 1882; a Confederate veteran and commander of the North Georgia Brigade, U. C. V., for eighteen years chief surgeon of the Piedmont Air Line Railway, and for thirty years city physician; died at his home, December 19, from bronchial pneumonia.

The friends and relatives of Dr. and Mrs. M. C. Martin, Mrs. S. M. Rounsaville, of New York city; Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Walty, of New York city; Miss Clara Walty, of New York city; Dr. and Mrs. George Brown, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cumbea, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Nolan, of Birmingham, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Owen M. Stanton are invited to attend the funeral of Dr. M. C. Martin today (Sunday) December 22, 1918, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of H. M. Patterson & Son. The Rev. Wallace Rogers, assisted by Dr. W. W. Brinsfield, will officiate. The interment will be at Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from teh Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Improved Order of Red Men, and will meet at the chapel at 2:45 o'clock. All members Camp Walker, No. 159, U. C. V.; Capitol lodge, No. 60, I. O. O. F., and associate camps and lodges, and I. O. R. M., are especially invited. The remains of Dr. Martin will be brought to the chapel at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, where they will lie in state until the hour of the funeral.


Additional info from Jim Blackwell (#47607953): Melville Martin's birth date on stone is incorrect; he was born in 1842, as he enlisted in CW in 1861...b:1848 he would have been 13 years old. Found him in 1860 census transcription error as Melissa Martin age 18. Discovered his 3 daughters from his obit:
