John will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Wanda; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Tigh Husted; son, Jon Ryan Shilling; and the loves of his life, his three grandchildren, Taylor, Keirsten and Tyler Husted. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Shilling; one brother, Edward (Gwen) Shilling; three sisters, Sandra (Raymond) Walker, Cheryl (Rod) Norton and Karen (Al) Rodgers; sisters-in-law, Betty Foschi, Linda Gail (Daniel) Smith; brother-in-law, Donald (Sue) Webb; goddaughters, Nicole Barden and Tanja Hunt; special aunt, Alma Finley; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Shilling; brother, Ronald Shilling; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Mary Luckett; sister-in-law, Emma Shilling and brother-in-law, Robert Webb. John was a member of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Citation. John was a lifetime member of the DAV. He retired from Wyman-Gordon in 1992 after 20 years of service. John enjoyed working on cars, playing poker, NASCAR, U of M Football and spending time with friends, but most of all he enjoyed being a family man and spoiling his grandchildren
